Half Price Matinee

95 - Belkin introduces new HDMI switch
This new piece of gear from Belkin is a three to one HDMI switch, which would give me some future proofing for equipment I decide to add down the road.
Supports resolutions up to 1080p (so all of them, I guess) and it even comes with a 6 foot HDMI cable.
What’s all this gonna cost you? $200… later this Summer.
63 - Gaming Classic, \”The Wizard\” coming to DVD!
1up.com reports that the (in)famous gaming movie/propaganda film will be released on DVD August 29th, 2006! w00t!

While I’m not sure this will make it into the Reference DVD section of my site, it is never the less a cinema classic for all us gaming geeks out there. Time to bust out my Power Glove…
60 - UltraAV HDMI Switch
I’ve been looking for a device like this for my projector.
- Switch between two HDMI sources (like Cable box/PC and soon Xbox360)
- No external power supply required
- Comes with an IR remote = no getting off the couch (always a plus)
- $99 instead of the usual $250-300, making it truly “Half Price Matinee” worthy.
Does anyone have one of these? Are there any drawbacks to this kind of setup that I’m not aware of? Let me know.
You can read all about it over at Gizmodo
37 - NVIDIA DualTV MCE TV Tuner
Anandtech has a review information about this Nvidia add on card with dual-tuner goodness. It’s also Windows Media Center compatible, which is nice.
It looks like the perfect addition to any Media Center computer. Although I have a dual-tuner cable box, I’d like to move this functionality over to the computer for virtually unlimited storage. We’ll ignore the fact that at the moment I have about 20 hours of unwatched television on my DVR…
Two more things: No price listed and no HDTV support.

11 - Guitar Hero gets better? Presenting Freetar Hero
For those about to rock, I salute you.
One of my guilty pleasures in life is firing up Guitar Hero on the PS2 and rocking out to 130″ of big screen Rock-concert goodness. You really can, for a brief moment, feel like a golden god.
So imagine my suprise yesterday when I stumble upon this post about some genius in Ottawa who is creating a PC version of Guitar Hero. But wait, it gets better, he’s trying to make it so that you can play almost any music song on your PC through this program and using the Guitar Hero PS2 peripheral… Awesome!
Here’s a link to Modern Savant, where I first heard about Freetar Hero.
4 - Create your own Phillips Ambi light?
One of my favorite sites, Gizmodo, presents me with a never ending stream of (generally) useless things to spend my money on.
Today they have the “Hipper-100″, which basically is a glowing egg that changes color based on the music you pipe through it. So my first thought was, “Could I buy a couple of these, connect them to my home theater, and have a poor man’s Phillips Ambi Light system?”
Go take a look at what I mean over here at Gizmodo and then come back and tell me if you think it’s possible.
